The Sherlock Holmes Museum is
open every day of the year, except Christmas day, from 9.30 am - 6pm. It is managed
by members of the Sherlock Holmes International Society.
We welcome enquiries regarding group visits. Group rate: one
person goes free for every 8 persons! (So if
the group consists of 40 persons, only 35 persons would need to pay!) Admission
charge: Adult £6. Child £4.
FAQ:
1. How long does the visit last?
The duration of most visits is between 1/2 hour - 45 minutes, which includes time for
shopping in our souvenir shop on the ground floor of the Museum.
2. What is the minimum and maximum size for a
group?
There are no limits, but for a large group of say over 20 people, we would divide the
group into smaller groups of 15 people - some can visit the shop while others can visit
the Museum.
3. Do we need to pre-pay for the visit? In that
case how long before the date of admission?
Admission charges can be paid on the door by cash or credit card, or in advance by a
sterling cheque drawn on a UK bank.
4. Do you accept vouchers?
We accept vouchers from travel agents by prior arrangement only.
5. Do we have to pre-book?
There is no need to pre-book, although it is advisable especially in the summer months to
avoid queing.
6. What is your cancellation policy?
We will refund the fee if for any reason the group cannot attend. There is no need to
advise us of the cancellation in advance, but if you can give some notice that would be
preferable.
6. Do you offer special trade rates? If it's the case please advise.
We do not currently offer any discount to tour organisers.
7. Do you have special rates for students + OAP?
The admission charge for adults aged 16 yrs + = £6; visitors who are under 16 yrs
old are charged £4. There are no other concessions for students or OAPs, although blind
people are admitted at the child rate of £4. Group rate( 10 or more visitors): 1
in every 8 visitors has free admission!
9. Do you provide an activity sheet?
Yes - please see the link to the quiz paper below.
10. What are the accessibility issues?
Physically disabled people in a wheelchair would have difficulty in gaining access to the
Museum because there is insufficient room for wheelchairs to be admitted to the lodging
rooms upstairs. The shop on the ground floor is easily accessible.
11. Coach parking and toilets?
Coaches can park outside the Museum for loading and unloading of passengers. Toilets are
available in the basement of the property.
Please note that Regents Park is opposite the
Museum at the top of Baker Street, and provides a pleasant environment for a picnic.
