A misty August day saw the return of Sherlock Holmes to Dartmoor. Not this time to solve some dastardly crime, but to celebrate the centenary of the first publication of The Hound of the Baskervilles. Enthusiasts from all over the world came to join The Baskerville Hounds (in costume) for their Hound conference. A collection was held by these keen Sherlockians and the proceeds – a wonderful 618 – donated to the Dartmoor Preservation Association. Thank you to everyone who contributed. The photograph shows Sherlock Holmes (Squadron-Leader Philip Weller) handing over the cheque to DPA chairman Colin Turner. Picture courtesy of the Dartmoor National Park Authority.
